In light of KFL&A region's move to orange-restrict level in Ontario's COVID-19 response framework, we will be making some minor changes to our operations as we approach Christmas.
Moving from passive to active screening – All persons entering our libraries will be asked a series of screening questions provided by the Ministry of Health. Persons may be asked to access library services remotely if they do not meet the screening requirements. In order to facilitate this, our Napanee patrons will be required to enter the library through the upper level of the building.
Andree, Relief Librarian, recently enjoyed Still Here by Amy Stuart, one of Canada's top thriller writers. Here is her review:
Coleen recently enjoyed Ghost's Journey, a sweet children's book about the true story of a refugee couple from Indonesia as told by their cat. Here is her review:
Love, a cat and a good cause – triple the goodness to this new juvenile pick by Robin Stevenson: Ghost’s Journey: A Refugee Story.
For me, the holiday season is made up of a series of magical moments. Festive lights and displays, traditions, the smell of cookies baking, and the beaming excitement from kiddos everywhere you turn. This time of year is usually quite busy at the museum with holiday activities and concerts and of course our celebration of The Christmas Tree. Although we have had to do things a little differently, the Museum is still full of holiday cheer.
December 12, 2020 – The Paramedic Memorial Bell will be arriving in Lennox and Addington County on Saturday, December 12th as part of its tour to honour Canadian Paramedics who have lost their lives in the line of duty. The Memorial Bell is engraved with the names of 51 paramedics who died while on the job.
December 10, 2020 – Lennox and Addington County Council wishes to announce that Ric Bresee, Mayor of Loyalist Township, was acclaimed as County Warden for the year 2021. Nominations for the position took place at the November 18th meeting, with Warden Bresee taking the oath of office at Council’s Inaugural Meeting held virtually on December 9, 2020. This is Ric Bresee’s first time serving as the County Warden.
While shopping isn't necessarily my favourite thing to do, I do enjoy finding gifts that I know that others will enjoy receiving. It's always fun to come across items that will be a guaranteed hit when they're unwrapped on Christmas morning.
Whether you shop in-store or online, there are plenty of options to choose from here in Lennox & Addington County. If you're looking for something for children, your spouse, your parents, or your in-laws (which hopefully you can defer the choosing to your spouse), chances are you can find what you need right here.
To be honest, before I started my internship here at the Museum and Archives, I hadn’t spent much time exploring Lennox and Addington County. Despite having boarded the ferry across to Adolphustown countless times and taken that scenic drive along Bath Road, I had never really paused to take in the beauty and history that Lennox and Addington has to offer.
Join the L&A County Museum & Archives for a series of workshops with local artisan, Linda Fraser, as she teaches us how to create traditional holiday items with a twist! She will be sharing her passion for pottery, felting and creating wood decorations.
Video tutorials led by Linda will be posted on www.CountyMuseum.ca and available on-demand throughout the holiday season.
Here are the workshops... Enjoy!
