The Lennox and Addington County Paramedic Service has been informed that our electronic health record management system has been voluntarily and precautionarily shut down as a result of a cybersecurity incident within the IT infrastructure of our Service Provider.

Prince Edward and Lennox & Addington Counties making progress on Housing and Homelessness Initiatives

At their September 28 meeting, County Council received updates regarding Housing and Homelessness initiatives as part of a report on Strategic Priorities.  In 2019, Council made ‘Facilitating Safe and Affordable Housing’ the top priority for their term of office.

County Council Meets with Ministers of Health and Education at AMO Conference

At the annual Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Conference held in Ottawa this week, Lennox and Addington County Council had meetings with Ontario’s Minister of Health and Minister of Education.

Umicore to build industrial scale battery materials manufacturing plant in Loyalist Township

Umicore is making a $1.5 billion investment in Loyalist Township to build a first of its kind industrial scale cathode and precursor materials manufacturing plant.

This investment in Lennox & Addington will support Ontario’s vision of building an end-to-end electric vehicle (EV) supply chain in the province and becoming a North American hub for building the cars of the future.

Building the facility will provide employment for around 1,000 people in the construction phase and employment for several hundred in operations.

Brenda Orchard Elected Treasurer of National Municipal Administrators’ Association

Brenda Orchard, Chief Administrative Officer for the County of Lennox and Addington was elected Treasurer of the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators (CAMA) during the Association’s Annual General Meeting held virtually on May 31, 2022.  

Community Paramedic Program Helping People to Stay in Their Homes

Lennox and Addington County’s Community Paramedic Program has been officially launched, following confirmation from the Ontario Ministry of Long-Term Care (MoLTC) of $2.5M in one-time funding to be provided between now and March 2024 and $365K from the Ministry of Health (MoH) for 2022-23.  This innovative program, operating with 6 Community Paramedics (CP) and one CP Superintendent, is designed to provide home-based care to eligible seniors and allows them to be safe at home while awaiting LTC placement.
