While shopping isn't necessarily my favourite thing to do, I do enjoy finding gifts that I know that others will enjoy receiving. It's always fun to come across items that will be a guaranteed hit when they're unwrapped on Christmas morning.

Whether you shop in-store or online, there are plenty of options to choose from here in Lennox & Addington County. If you're looking for something for children, your spouse, your parents, or your in-laws (which hopefully you can defer the choosing to your spouse), chances are you can find what you need right here.

Steeped in history, and embraced by captivating country and lakeside views, Amherst Island is quickly becoming a rather popular place for both locals and travellers alike. Situated a mere three kilometres off the North shore of Lake Ontario between Kingston and Glenora, Amherst Island is a charming and absolutely breathtaking location prime for scenic drives, cycling, delicious local food and so much more.    

Lennox & Addington County is an emerging destination for lovers of locally produced beer, cider, wine and spirits. The Ontario craft beverage scene is immense, and only getting bigger. Each year, local breweries, wine estates and distilleries attract scores of travellers looking to explore Ontario’s blooming bounty of craft bevies.

For many of us, the chaotic nature of life in the concrete jungle can eventually reach critical mass. Whether it’s a classic case of cubicle fever, or the persistent siege of car horns, emails and calendar updates - we all experience the inevitable need to break free of it - and escape. 

Lennox & Addington County has a very special place in my heart. I grew up in this region and am so grateful to be able to showcase just a small sample of the fishing opportunities found here. Here's a short list of 3 of my favourite fishing spots here in L&A (that I've experienced so far).

Amateur astronomers have it tough these days. Urban sprawl is expanding, and with it, the light pollution is destroying our views of the night sky. Seeing anything but the moon, planets and brightest stars in close proximity to these dense urban centres is difficult to impossible. This is  true anywhere, but extremely prevalent in Southern to Southeastern Ontario along the Highway 401 corridor where I live. This region has the highest population density in Canada, and as a side effect, some of the worst and farthest reaching light pollution in the country.

For our next sumer time excursion in Lennox & Addington, my partner Heidi and I set our sights to the northern portion of the county for a highly anticipated escape to The Addington Highlands. There, we would spend three days exploring the splendid scenery of Bon Echo Provincial Park. From hiking, kayaking and scenic boat tours to delicious local food and beyond - get ready for our biggest Lennox & Addington adventure yet!

The Jiffy Grill

I've been geocaching for over ten years now, and have travelled throughout North America seeking those little containers hidden in some truly awesome spots.

I found my first ever geocache right here in Napanee on January 12, 2009. It was called “Paper House” and it was located at N 44° 15.577 W076° 58.257, or for you non-geocachers, near Walmart. Being new to Napanee and not knowing much of the area, I thought it would be a good idea to use geocaching as a way to tour my new home town, and that is just what I did.
