Busy summer season in store at the Macpherson House

The Allan Macpherson House & Park, located at 180 Elizabeth Street in Napanee, opened for another busy summer season on June 27th. The House, built in 1826, recently received a new cedar shingle roof and looks as grand as it ever has, standing proudly along the banks of the Napanee River. It will be open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 1 – 5 pm.

TD Summer Reading Club 2017

TD Summer Reading Club is Canada’s biggest, bilingual summer reading program for kids of all ages, all interests, and all abilities. This free program is co-created and delivered by 2,000 public libraries across Canada.  It celebrates Canadian authors, illustrators and stories. It’s designed to inspire kids to explore the fun of reading their way – the key to building a lifelong love of reading.

Staff Picks: The Zookeeper's Wife

Jennifer from the Amherstview Branch recently enjoyed reading The Zookeeper’s Wife by Diane Ackerman, a 2007 novel that was released as a movie earlier this year.

The Zookeeper’s Wife tells the true story of a couple who ran a zoo and when it became a farm during Nazi rule,” explains Jennifer. “Antonina, a housewife, and her husband, Jan, a zoo director, secretly sheltered Jews in their home and on the grounds.”
