Children's Summer Reading Recs

It’s that time of year again when the County of Lennox & Addington Libraries launches the always popular TD Summer Reading Club. The purpose of this Canada-wide program is threefold: to encourage early literacy, to stave off “summer learning loss”, and perhaps most importantly, to celebrate the role recreational reading plays in lifelong learning.

Lennox & Addington County native Ashley Rae has made quite a name for herself in Canada's fishing community. This skilled angler has plied her craft from coast to coast and beyond, but still frequents her home community where her passion for fishing was born.

This spring and summer Ashley will be blogging about a few of her favourite bodies of water in Lennox & Addington County. Follow her adventures as she documents her most memorable experiences on the water throughout the region. 

My Story, My Tattoo Exhibit Reveals There Is A Story Behind Every Tattoo

Art and words come together in the newest exhibit at the Lennox & Addington County Museum & Archives in Napanee. Entitled “My Story, My Tattoo”, this travelling display from the Wellington County Museum and Archives (WCMA) features 32 photographs of people and their amazing tattoos. It includes four audio stations, six videos and 30 text panels.

Prince Edward-Lennox & Addington Social Services completes Ontario’s first homeless enumeration count in Canada

On May 13th, Prince Edward-Lennox & Addington Social Services (PELASS) completed their participation in Ontario’s homeless enumeration, the first province-wide count of its kind in Canada. 
 
Through the assistance of 20 services providers in both counties including food banks, health providers and other community services, over 100 questionnaires were completed by those considered homeless or precariously housed.

Orchard Elected to Board of Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators

Fredericton, NB (May 31, 2018) – Brenda Orchard, Chief Administrative Officer for Lennox and Addington County, ON, has been elected to the board of directors for the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators (CAMA).  She was elected as the CAMA Board Representative for Ontario during the association’s annual general meeting, held on May 29, 2017 at CAMA’s national conference in Fredericton, NB.

Macpherson House in Napanee Celebrates 50 years of Promoting 19th Century Heritage

The Allan Macpherson House & Park, standing proudly along the banks of the Napanee River at 180 Elizabeth Street in Napanee, opens for another busy summer season on July 3rd. Built circa 1826, this grand old home is celebrating its 50th year promoting 19th century heritage in 2018.

The House will be open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1 – 4 pm. Guided tours ($3) are available every Wednesday in July and August.
