Details about the Church family, program and souvenirs from the Napanee High School Reunion of 1978, and other new additions are highlighted in the June edition of New to the Archives.

 

Church Family Records

Malachi Church, born 24 Jun 1732 in Hadley, Hampshire, Massachusetts, married Elizabeth Mills on 30 April 1756 at Westfield, Massachusetts. They had two sons, Oliver Church (1756-1817) and Jonathan Mills Church (1760-1846). Malachi died in Quebec before his sons located to the Bay of Quinte.

Lennox and Addington Begins Search for New CAO

Lennox and Addington County Council has engaged the services of Bill Bishop of HR Consulting Services to lead the search for a new Chief Administrative Officer to replace the incumbent, Larry Keech who is retiring on August 31, 2017. The job advertisement has been broadly posted on various websites including Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators, Ontario Municipal Administrators Association, Association of Municipal Clerks & Treasurers of Ontario, Canadian Municipal Jobs, Ontario Municipal Human Resources Association, as well as the County’s website.

Napanee-based start-up company receives investment

Natural Products Canada (NPC) has announced its first investment in a Canadian start-up, FireRein Inc.

FireRein has created Eco-Gel™, an effective and non-toxic water additive that can “knock down” fires up to 55% faster while using up to 60% less water. Made from bio-renewable, food-grade ingredients, Eco-Gel™ is safe for the firefighter and the environment. The product was developed by a team of firefighters, scientists and business professionals, and early proof-of-concept work was done in collaboration with GreenCentre Canada, another member of the CECR network.

Once in a while the Archives receives a donation with cultural significance in and beyond the borders of Lennox & Addington. One such donation is the Sir Gilbert Parker collection received in 2016.
