County Council Highlights - October 28th Virtual Meetings

  • Derek Sloan, MP for Hastings-Lennox and Addington provided an update on activities of his office as well as the Federal Government.  Members of Council had the opportunity to ask questions about current issues in the County including illegal cannabis grow-ops and their ramifications.

I’ll begin this blog by saying I miss you all. I miss hearing the voices of visitors talking about exhibits, the beautiful sound of music resonating with the audience, kids' laughter echoing in our hallway and the ability to create a sense of community within our walls. It has been a different year for us at Lennox and Addington County Museum and Archives, navigating how to connect with our visitors from a distance. 2020 has allowed us the time and ability to rethink how we function and how we will be able to have an even greater reach and impact for our visitors and beyond.

County Courthouse Flag Flying at Half Mast

The flag at the County Courthouse is currently flying at half mast in recognition of the passing of former Prime Minister John Turner. Former PM Turner died on Sept 19th at the age of 91.  The Canadian government also announced a half-masting of the national flags on the Peace Tower and all federal buildings and establishments in Canada to honour Turner’s memory. Flags will remain at half-mast until the day of his funeral on Oct 6th.

Attendance at the Court House

Courts are reopening in phases to ensure the necessary health and safety precautions are in place  The public are encouraged not to attend the court house unless they have matters before the court.

Screening for COVID-19 is mandatory.  You can complete online screening before going to the court house and show the result as you enter. Take COVID-19 courthouse screening

If you do not screen online other screening options are available at the court house.
