Please be aware of some exciting changes that will be taking place at our libraries effective April 1st, 2020.

We're reinstating Interlibrary Loan Services!

On February 5, 2020, County Council resolved to reinstate Interlibrary Loan Services (ILLO) as of April 1, 2020. ILLO is a special service which allows us to bring in materials from public libraries outside of the Lennox & Addington system. In order to exercise control over the extra postage costs we will incur as a result of the reinstatement, the following guidelines will be introduced upon the resumption of ILLO service:

  • Patrons can submit a maximum of 5 requests per month
  • This limit is not cumulative, i.e. unused requests cannot be carried over
  • Certain collection types will not be considered for ILLO (loan or request), including mass market paperbacks, children’s easy readers, board books, magazines and book club sets
  • If we have access to a title in an alternate format, e.g. e-book, large print, we may refuse to ILLO that title in the requested format unless accessibility is a concern

We're going fine-free!*

On February 5th, 2020, County Council also passed a resolution that would eliminate overdue fines on all standard library items. Please note that children's materials have been fine-free for several years now.

*There are some exceptions to the fine-free rule: Lucky Day Reads, Interlibrary Loans (ILLO), and Beyond Books items. At check out, staff will note when you may incur overdue fines on an item. Patrons will also still be billed for lost, damaged, or long overdue items on their accounts. Accounts with outstanding overdue fines will be cleared in April as a gesture of goodwill.
