Reading Resolution Revival
If your reading resolutions did not work out for you, why not revive with a reading challenge?
We are close to five months in from January's New Year's resolutions – how are you doing? I have to admit, I have not achieved my reading goals for 2020, however, there is still time. If a reading resolution did not work out for you, why not revive with a reading challenge?
If you need some inspiration on how to achieve this, try these resources to reboot your resolution:
- The Achievement Habit by Bernard Roth
- The Power of Habit by Charles Duhig
For a brand new reading challenge, take the eight months of 2020 and devise your own theme for each month.
- May – Read a book written by women (Mother’s day) -- A Single Thread by Tracy Chevalier or How to Build a Girl by Caitlin Moran
- June – Read a memoir -- Born a Crime by Trevor Noah or Happiness by Heather Harpham
- July – LGBTQ2SIA authors or stories -- On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong or The Melting Queen by Bruce Cinnamon
- August – Read a short stories -- Short Stories by Louisa May Alcott or Frying Plantain by Zalika Reid-Benta
- September – Authors under 35 -- The Mothers by Brit Bennett or Mortifications by Derek Palacio
- October – Horror -- The Langoliers by Stephen King or In the House in the Dark of the Woods by Laird Hunt
- November – Authors over 65 -- The Little Red Chairs by Edna O’Brien or Back to Blood by Tom Wolfe
- December – Non Fiction (pick out your resolution for 2021!) -- How to Bake by Paul Hollywood or How to Raise Poultry by Christine Heinrichs
However you decide to “revive” your resolution you are sure to find some inspiration to achieve it from our online resources. Persevere – your book awaits!
