(June 21, 2017) Lennox and Addington County Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Brenda Orchard as the County’s new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).

Ms. Orchard has almost 20 years of senior municipal leadership experience in three provinces including both urban and rural communities. She is currently serving as the CAO for Huron County, a position she has held since 2013. Prior to joining Huron County, she was the CAO for Annapolis County in Nova Scotia.

The selection of Ms. Orchard comes following a thorough recruitment process supported by Bill Bishop of HR Consulting Services Inc. Ms. Orchard takes over the position from Larry Keech, who is retiring this summer after 29 years of dedicated service to the community.

“Brenda is a highly competent and well-respected municipal administrator, and we are confident she is the right choice for this critical role” stated County Warden Bill Lowry. “Her proven ability to engage staff, build strong teams and transform vision to reality will serve the County well as we move forward”.

Ms. Orchard has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto and she is a Certified Economic Developer with the Economic Developers Association of Canada. Orchard is actively involved with the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) as a current member of the Board of Directors (County Caucus).

"I am honoured to have the opportunity to work alongside the dedicated Council and staff in Lennox and Addington and serve the citizens of this beautiful county." said Orchard. "I am passionate about supporting the growth of staff and developing communities and I am excited to begin our work together".

The appointment of Brenda Orchard to the position of Chief Administrative Officer will take effect Tuesday, August 8, 2017.
