It's sure to be a fun and informative “Tuesday Night at the Museum” in Napanee on February 21st at 7pm.

Andy Forgie’s popular one-man show “They Don’t Write 'Em Like This Anymore”, takes you back to the glory years of the singer/songwriters of 1960’s & 70’s. Andy will highlight iconic songs by Lennon & McCartney, Simon & Garfunkel, Bob Dylan, The Band, Cat Stevens, James Taylor, Harry Chapin and many more. Andy’s warm performance style and story-telling will make for a wonderful evening and will be sure to stir memories of when poignant lyrics and timeless melodies ruled the airwaves.

In addition to the musical portion of the evening, the event also acts as a kick-off to three new Museum exhibits related to Canada's 150th anniversary.

"The People and Places of Napanee" exhibit highlights the 1860’s photographic collection of Stephen Benson. The exhibit reveals the everyday faces of the town and the buildings that served as the community’s centre during those Confederation years.

The exhibit entitled "Crinolines and Confederation: Gigantic Gowns and Nationalism - 1856—1870" depicts how the greatest fashion leaders of the 1860s used the seductive power of nationalism to send political messages through one of the most spectacularly lavish, and strangest fashions of all time - the gigantic crinoline skirt. The collection is curated by Diane Gallinger of Jordan Heritage Resources.

Fast-forwarding 100 & 150 years, the "Hippie & Hipster" exhibit portrays what fashion was like in the 1960’s and what our youth are wearing currently. The 1960’s portion of the exhibit was curated by Gallinger, while the present-day ensembles were put together with the assistance of Starlet Boutique in Napanee.

Admission to “Tuesday Night at the Museum” is only $3. Tickets are available at the door. The Lennox & Addington County Museum & Archives is located at 97 Thomas Street East in Napanee. More details about the evening can be found by visiting www.CountyMuseum.ca or by calling 613-354-3027.
