Our Ordinary, Extraordinary Lives is an exhibit at the Museum of Lennox & Addington that speaks to this message through vibrant photography, commentary, and art. Our families today may look different from families 150 years ago, but this fact transcends time - Our Ordinary, is the Extraordinary.

The Roberts-Moon Family

"When Candice and I chatted about what activity would be meaningful to photograph for their family, she mentioned that they have family dinner with her in-laws every Sunday. It’s a family ritual, and one we both felt would be important to capture. So I met up with their family for a snippet of late-summer activities at grandma and grandpa’s place: swimming in the pool, playing with some new puppies, and enjoying a lasagna meal together.

"Watching Harley and her brother Gavyn playing in the pool reminded me of the magic of childhood; how fleeting those summer moments are. Sunday after Sunday, they swim in that pool, and each time is just as fun as the one before. Their faces were full of joy. While the children played, their parents and grandparents watched them adoringly. It was also wonderful to see how much love and care the family took with Harley, who has special needs. From making sure she got dried off properly after her swim, to cutting up her dinner, or a stolen game of rock paper scissors with dad, this little girl’s face came alive in the company of those who love her so much. For me, the entire warm afternoon spent with the Roberts/Moon family showed me just how much meaning there is in bringing family together, and relishing the joys of late summer."
