Our Ordinary, Extraordinary Lives is an exhibit at the Museum of Lennox & Addington that speaks to this message through vibrant photography, commentary, and art. Our families today may look different from families 150 years ago, but this fact transcends time - Our Ordinary, is the Extraordinary.

The Milne Family

"The Milne family was the first family I photographed for this exhibit, and it was such a fun and playful way to start off this series! It was the peak of summer heat in 2020, and we agreed to meet up with this Amherstview family on a Monday morning in Fairfield Park. The family loves spending time there with their two small girls. When I arrived, I could see the girls running down the path to meet up with me. Then began our adventures. They found a ladybug which kept them busy for a while, then had some time on the swing set, and even dipped their toes in the water. Probably the highlight of the morning was when they got to run around in the grass with mom, playing tag. Afterwards, they collected sticks near a big tree. I had been worried that by wearing a mask, I would have a more difficult time connecting with the girls, but I couldn’t be more wrong. They warmed up to me so easily! The Milne family has recently moved out of the L&A area, to start adventures in a new rural property with lots of grass in which to frolic. I’m very happy we had a chance to create memories for them which will always remind them of their lives in L&A County, on an ordinary morning at Fairfield park."
