Our Ordinary, Extraordinary Lives is an exhibit at the Museum of Lennox & Addington that speaks to this message through vibrant photography, commentary, and art. Our families today may look different from families 150 years ago, but this fact transcends time - Our Ordinary, is the Extraordinary.

The Eves Family

The Eves family go ALL OUT for Halloween. “Some people go crazy for Christmas,” Jeff remarks. “We feel the same way, but for October 31st.”For the Eves, Halloween prep starts weeks earlier. There are the decorations, the planning, and the cook-outs! Oh, the cook-outs. After hours of putting up fake cobwebs, arranging skeletons, and candied syrup that looks like blood, the family makes a fire and roasts hotdogs. This is their time to connect, share some jokes, and reminisce. Like when their daughter Farrin was just a little girl, and they used to decorate the inside of the house and invite the neighbourhood to be spooked...“For three weeks leading up to Halloween,” Farrin tells me, “I had to sleep in that room with creepy baby !” But this experience seems to only have increased her love for Halloween. The whole family bonds during this time of the year, and I had such a wonderful time capturing the many small details they created lovingly in the fall of 2020.It even made me want to throw up some Halloween decorations of my own!"
