June 27, 2019 – At their Regular meeting held June 26, County Council honoured Stephen Fox who is retiring this week after a career that spanned 30 years as the Director, Financial Services/Treasurer for the County of Lennox and Addington.  Past Wardens Bill Lowry and Gord Schermerhorn were in attendance at the meeting.

Lennox and Addington County Chief Administrative Officer Brenda Orchard presented a service award to Steve to mark this milestone and said, “To say that Steve has been a valued member of our team would be an understatement.  Steve is well respected and relied on for advice by staff at all levels of the organization and in municipalities across Eastern Ontario.”

Warden Eric Smith presented Steve with a retirement gift and stated that Steve is “valued for his professionalism, and his keen understanding of municipal finance.  As the old saying goes – he is worth his weight in gold.”

Steve expressed gratitude to all the Councils, Wardens, CAO’s, Directors and staff he has worked with throughout the years and lauded the present council for being “very progressive and thoughtful in their planning.”  He continued, “Like the councils before you, you are leaders in taking a longer-term approach to ensuring that the County’s assets remain in good condition for future generations.”

Council and staff wish Steve all the best in his retirement.

The County will welcome Mark Day as the new Director of Financial Services/Treasurer beginning July 8, 2019.
