Celebrating 50 Years of Earth Day
April 22nd, 2020 is the 50th anniversary of Earth Day!
Did you know that April 22nd, 2020 is the 50th anniversary of Earth Day? Let’s celebrate our beautiful planet together. Whether you recycle, repurpose, start plogging, plant a garden, or eat a meat-free meal, it all helps to lesson our impact on the planet.
As David Suzuki, a legendary Canadian environmentalist, once said:
“In nature there is no such thing as waste. In nature nothing is wasted; everything is recycled...our very being, essence, health and happiness depend on Mother Earth.”
We have a variety of resources to share as a family on Hoopla and Overdrive so you can celebrate all week long:
Juvenile Books:
- Earth Day by Linda Lowery
- Celebrating Earth Day by M.J. York
- Earth Day Every Day by Lisa Bullard
Adult Books:
- The Optimistic Environmentalist: Progressing Towards a Greener Future by David R. Boyd
- The Green Teen by Jenn Savedge
- The Imperfect Environmentalist by Sara Gilbert
Documentary and Series:
However small the effort it, all adds up – one small seedling grows into a tall tree with thousands of leaves – together if we recycle a tin can, newspaper or glass jar it leads to a greener planet earth. Just do what you can. Happy Earth Day!
