March 13, 2020  – County Activates Emergency Operations Centre

In light of the growing concerns related to the COVID 19 outbreak, and the impact it is already having on peoples lives, businesses and the economy elsewhere in Canada and around the world, we have made the decision to proactively activate our Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) in an enhanced monitoring capacity.  By taking this action, the County will be in a better position to rapidly respond to the constantly changing situation related to the COVID 19 outbreak, and also to better coordinate with our 4 lower tier municipalities, allied partners, and the province to provide collaborative and standardized communication and response when and if the need arises.  Additionally, although COVID 19 is a main priority right now, so too are the day-to-day operations that you rely on.  We are committed to your safety, and to continuing to provide the service you have come to expect.

We also want to assure you that taking this action does not mean that there has been any greater threat to public safety identified, it is being done for the sole purpose of positioning our team in the most favourable place to ensure that essential services are maintained and that you the public are well informed and impacted to the lowest degree possible by any future changes.

Given our vulnerable sector at The John M Parrott Centre we strongly discourage excess visiting at the Home.  We would appreciate that children no longer in school, due to the COVID 19, not be brought into the Home to visit. The health of our residents is of paramount importance and we appreciate your support in protecting themAdditionally, all County Libraries and Museums are closed as of today until further notice.
