Chantal ThompsonAbout Chantal Thompson:

Chantal Thompson is a self-taught musician starting in high school where she formed her first band, won local competitions and opened for well-known acts.  While studying Philosophy at Queen’s University, Chantal fronted the band “JOYY” which played weekly for sold out crowds for three years.  They also travelled to Montreal, Toronto and Russia.

Chantal formed a seven piece nu-jazz band called “Directions” and was picked up by The Agency Group, a prestigious international booking agency.  Chantal’s “Directions” toured across Canada, playing at the Montreal Jazz Festival and as well as being the top pick at The Jazz Café in London England. While touring with her band, Chantal has also written songs for TV series Metropolis and Canadian Indie film, Amateur Night.

In her most recent musical journey, Chantal moved to New York where she had a successful audition for a jazz master vocal workshop with Mark Murphy and Jay Clayton. While in New York she teamed up with some of the top jazz instrumentalists and recorded her first solo jazz album, Sirens & Stars.

Her passion for music continues off the stage, Chantal is on the board of directors of Joe’s M.I.L.L which is Canada’s only instrument lending library supporting youth and any musician who cannot afford an instrument.
