What’s a CD?

Kim Kerr

Here we are again, at home, wondering how we all ended up in the Bill Murray movie Groundhog Day. If you missed JoAnne’s blog about her experience working from home, make sure to check it out. Below is a picture of my workstation at home. Between JoAnne and I, our home offices are very different.

Homework 2.0

Joanne Himmelman

Well hello again, you caught me…I am wearing my leggings again and passing them off as pants for the third week in a row, at various times in those weeks, I have quite honestly have lost what day it is, and have had to seek those answers from my new co-workers, Molly (my terrier mix) and Rory (my cat), they don’t usually answer me back and they also don’t know much about collections management or exhibit design…so some days my struggle for real feedback is real!

Looking Ahead to 2021

Amber Meyer

I’m not one for New Years Resolutions, however I always like to make a conscious effort to focus on something that is important that I may have let slip and reflect on the previous year. Wow, what a year it has been! Taking out all of the stress and uncertainties, there is something to be said about simplicity that this time has brought. Determining what the core intention is in whatever you are doing and finding the pleasure in those simple moments is what I have made to be my goal.

Starting the New Year (not quite at the Museum)

Alannah MacGregor

As we all look toward what 2021 will bring, I am reminded of a new year’s eve toast made by one of my favorite TV characters; Sherman T. Potter of M*A*S*H*. While the quote has nothing to do with museums I thought I’d share it none the less; “Here’s to the New Year. May she be a [darn] sight better than the old one” I think the sentiment of this quote is on everyone’s mind as we celebrate this year in lockdown.

At Home For The Holidays

Amber Meyer

For me, the holiday season is made up of a series of magical moments. Festive lights and displays, traditions, the smell of cookies baking, and the beaming excitement from kiddos everywhere you turn. This time of year is usually quite busy at the museum with holiday activities and concerts and of course our celebration of The Christmas Tree.  Although we have had to do things a little differently, the Museum is still full of holiday cheer.

From Amherst Island to Vichy, France

Michelle Barclay

To be honest, before I started my internship here at the Museum and Archives, I hadn’t spent much time exploring Lennox and Addington County. Despite having boarded the ferry across to Adolphustown countless times and taken that scenic drive along Bath Road, I had never really paused to take in the beauty and history that Lennox and Addington has to offer.
