Caitlyn, a student Page at the County of Lennox & Addington Libraries’ Napanee Branch, recently enjoyed the contemporary YA novel Words in Deep Blue by Cath Crowley.

Staff Picks: Unleashed

Catherine

Julie Wendland, Readers’ Services Coordinator for the County Libraries, recently enjoyed Unleashed by local author Sally Barnes. It is a witty mystery novel set against the backdrop of a dog park.

“Groucho Marx had it right when he said, ‘Outside a dog, a book is man’s best friend. Inside a dog it’s too dark to read,’” quotes Julie. “So I was excited when Sally Barnes’ book Unleashed came across my desk.”

Staff Picks: The Haunting of Maddy Clare

Catherine

The Haunting of Maddy Clare offers a spooky mystery which moves at a quick pace. Set in a small English town in Post-WWI era, a trio of likeable characters in young temp Sarah, ghost hunter Alistair, and his charming assistant Matthew encounter suspicious types like a snobby aristocrat, a wary gravedigger, and a shadowy stranger. Our amiable trio aims to unravel the source of the spirit Maddy's distress who intensifies her haunting of a barn where she allegedly killed herself.

November's Goodreads Book Club: Birds!

Catherine

The County of Lennox & Addington Public Libraries has its very own online book club via the bookish social networking site Goodreads. Anyone is welcome to join and you can participate as much or as little as you they like. This club doesn't read one book, rather we read by monthly theme. The themes allow for a lot of flexibility and creativity, so generally you are able to avoid books that don’t appeal to you – a common book club pitfall.

Hooray for Halloween!

It's Ontario Public Library Week!

Catherine

October is Canadian Library Month! During this month, libraries and library partners across Canada raise awareness of the valuable role libraries play in Canadians' lives. In Ontario, we celebrate our public libraries during Ontario Public Library Week (OPLW), on October 15 to 21, 2017.

As a thank you to our wonderful library patrons, we will be expanding the number of Hoopla items you can borrow from 5 to 20 items from now until the end of the month.
