Made from bio-renewable, food-grade ingredients, Eco-Gel™ is safe for the firefighter and the environment. The product was developed by a team of firefighters, scientists and business professionals, and early proof-of-concept work was done in collaboration with GreenCentre Canada, another member of the CECR network.

Staff Picks: Brown Girl in the Ring

Catherine

Since February was Black History Month, the Amherstview Branch’s book club read books based on the themes of black history and culture. Jennifer, who leads the book club, chose to read Brown Girl in the Ring by Nalo Hopkinson, a great CanLit novel. It’s sci-fi and from 1998, so it could be considered a bit obscure. “Winner of several ‘best first novel’ awards, this novel weaves together elements of Afro-Caribbean culture, feminist science fiction, and magic realism,” says Jennifer.

New 'Art in the Library' Exhibit

Catherine

The County of Lennox and Addington Public Libraries are proud to support the community’s culture and talent. It is for this reason that we have started the “Art in the Library” program in partnership with the Greater Napanee Area Arts Association (GNAAA). A prominent feature wall was created at the Napanee Branch specifically for this program where artists can display their work.

The latest exhibit, starring Primrose Craig and David A. Gordon will be running until April 30th.

Newspaper Digitization Project

Rob Plumley

An exciting project for 2017 is underway in the Archives. Jim Sova, a dedicated volunteer, has been hard at work preparing parts of the microfilmed newspaper collection for digitization. The Napanee Express (1862-1951) and The Napanee Standard (1855-1866) are slated for phase one of the project. The goal is to have as many issues as possible searchable by keyword.
