Enjoying a Fall Hike at Parrott's Bay Conservation Area

September 18, 2020
Rob Plumley

Autumn is my favourite time of year to hike a trail. The air is crisp, the views are spectacular, and if you're lucky you could see an abundance of wildlife along the way.

Route Itineraries for a Perfect Colour Tour

Autumn is my favourite season. The humidity of the summer is mostly gone, the nights are cool, and the days are still warm enough to keep the heavy jacket in the back of the closet.

With the exception of raking the lawn - and raking again, and again - there's nothing not to like about this time of year. Despite the work that goes along with keeping the yard in order, seeing the colours that Mother Nature unveils every fall is well worth it.

A Colourful Paddle on Deerock Lake

September 13, 2020
Rob Plumley

When I talk to folks about kayaking I've had a few people mention to me how great a spot Deerock Lake is to paddle. I added it to my bucket list of places to visit and I finally made the trip on a sunny morning in early-October of 2019.

They weren't exaggerating - Deerock Lake Conservation Area may be the absolute most beautiful place I've ever been to. I can hardly wait to go back again this year.

September is Prime Cycling Season

September 8, 2020
Rob Plumley

When the calendar turns to September, prime cycling season arrives here in South Eastern Ontario. The days are usually a bit cooler and there is less humidity than earlier in the summer, making conditions just right to hop on your bike and enjoy a ride.

Lennox & Addington offers some of the best road cycling routes in the province. Our County roads are in terrific shape, and many are equipped with extended paved shoulders that provide added safety to riders.

With the hot days of summer winding down, you may be looking for an activity you can do with the kids that will keep them cool and calm for a moment. Why not try a summertime storytime?  School is back in session so, whether you choose to read at home or in class, it is good practice to acclimatize your children to small doses of reading and learning now, to make the transition to classes run smoothly.

Find Unspoiled Natural Beauty at Beaver Lake

September 2, 2020
Rob Plumley

Beaver Lake could very well be my favourite place to visit in all of Lennox & Addington County. My grandparents lived on North Beaver and I spent a lot of my childhood there. I have many fond memories of my brother and I catching frogs, searching for crayfish, going canoeing, and taking rides in my Pop's old boat.

It had been a while since I had made the trip back to the lake so I took advantage of a sunny afternoon to spend some time out on the water. I loaded my kayak and fishing rod in the truck and off I went.
