Significant Weather Event - Update
Lennox and Addington County and the local municipal roads have reopened; however, motorists are advised to use caution, since they may encounter abandoned vehicles or other obstructions. Pedestrians are cautioned that sidewalks remain narrower than normal and sections may be icy.
Several areas of L&A County were hit harder than others due to the nature of the snow squall activity. This has been a significant storm and complete snow removal is expected to continue for the next several days. Crews are working diligently to push back snow banks and remove snow from urban areas. These operations may need to be suspended to deal with flooding should we get the rain and warmer temperatures that are currently being forecasted. Should flooding occur, the focus will be on areas where our roadways are being impacted and safe travel through these areas can not be maintained.
The County of Lennox and Addington thanks residents and local businesses for their patience during this time as well as the municipal staff and their families for their hard work and commitment over the holidays.
The Significant Weather Event and State of Emergency remain in effect for the County of Lennox and Addington at this time.
