Supervisor:                Dietary Supervisor

Salary Range:           $20.28 (as per the CUPE Collective Agreement)

Hours of Work:         Days, evenings & weekends (as scheduled)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Requires experience in using/operating kitchen equipment. Previous experience as a food server in a dining room setting is an asset. Must be able to follow oral and written instruction in English.  Requires understanding of the special needs of the elderly and Ministry of Health Compliance Standards in a long-term care setting.  The successful applicant will exhibit patience and tact in their daily tasks involving residents, guests and staff.  Must be clean, neat in appearance and have excellent personal hygiene.  Must be in good physical health.  In addition, the successful applicant must be able to lift fifteen pounds as well as stand and walk for the entire shift, as this is a very physically demanding job. Responsible to adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety procedures of the Act and the facility.  Must be currently enrolled in, and/or agree to complete FSW course within three (3) years of date of hire) or have completed the Food Service Worker (FSW) course through an accredited college or have chef training or a culinary management diploma from a program that meets the standards established by the Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities.  Must have a current Safe Food Handler’s Certificate from the Public Health Unit.

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the general supervision of the Supervisor, Dietitian and Cook, will portion and serve correct meals to residents, and guests.  Responsible for setting and clearing tables and keeping the work areas, dining room and other areas in the department clean and sanitary. Assist in the dishwashing process, prepare, and set up daily nourishments and other duties as assigned. Must be knowledgeable of, and adhere to all Public Health and Ministry of Health Dietary Compliance Standards.

Regulated Safety Activities:  Must adhere to all service area policies and procedures as outlined in WHMIS, Infection Control, Fire, Health and Safety, and other manuals and legislation.
