Overview
Lennox and Addington places the well-being of its employees at the forefront, embracing a culture that values health and wellness through supportive and innovative initiatives.

Promote Work/Life Balance
We understand that for many of our employees, the ability to work remotely or adapt their work schedules can significantly enhance their productivity and job satisfaction. Whether it’s through flexible hours, telework, job sharing, or a reduced work schedule, we are committed to finding solutions that accommodate the diverse needs of our staff while ensuring the operational needs of the County are met. This approach reflects our belief in the value of a supportive, adaptable work environment that prioritizes the well-being of our employees, understanding that optimal work conditions vary among individuals and tasks.
Health and Wellness Activities
At Lennox and Addington, our commitment to the health and well-being of our employees extends beyond traditional benefits, underscored by the active and engaged presence of our Employee Health & Wellness Committee. This dedicated group takes the lead in organizing a variety of events and initiatives designed not only for our staff but their families as well, sharing valuable information to build a culture deeply rooted in health and wellness. Our approach is threefold: we aim to raise awareness about health and wellness and the resources available, create a supportive environment that promotes health and wellness programs for our employees and their families, and offer opportunities to cultivate and maintain healthier lifestyles. Popular events, such as golf tournaments, family pumpkin carving, chili cook-offs, and step challenges, are just a few examples of how we bring our commitment to life, fostering a community that values well-being.
Early and Safe Return to Work
Lennox and Addington is deeply committed to fostering a supportive workplace environment, particularly when it comes to the well-being and recovery of our employees who have been injured or fallen ill. Through our Early and Safe Return to Work Program, we are dedicated to taking reasonable steps to facilitate the return of these employees to their pre-disability roles, or to other suitable positions, whenever possible. We believe that an early and safe return to meaningful and productive work is not just beneficial for maintaining the operational continuity of our services but is also crucial for the physical and emotional health of our employees. This approach significantly enhances the prospects of full re-employment, underscoring our commitment to the holistic well-being of our staff and their successful reintegration into the workplace.
Provide Peer Support
Lennox and Addington proudly supports our employees through challenging times with a specialized team of staff trained to offer peer-based individual and/or group support. This initiative is designed to assist employees who may encounter work-related trauma, professional crises, or stressful events in either their work or personal lives. Ensuring confidentiality and timeliness, this program reflects our commitment to the mental and emotional well-being of our staff. Our dedication to innovative and supportive practices was recognized when we were honoured with the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators’ Willis Award for Innovation in the category for municipalities with a population between 20,001 and 100,000. This accolade was for our project, “It’s OK to not be OK – Lennox & Addington’s Corporate Peer Support Program”, highlighting our proactive approach to fostering a workplace environment where the mental health and well-being of our employees are a top priority. This program underscores our commitment to creating a supportive culture that acknowledges the importance of mental health and provides the necessary resources and support systems to help our staff navigate through challenging times.
Employee Assistance Program
We prioritize the well-being of our employees and their families through a valuable partnership with FSEAP, our dedicated ally in workplace health. FSEAP grants our staff and their family members complimentary access to professional and confidential counselling, coaching and consulting services. These resources are designed to support individuals in managing personal, family, or work-related challenges, enhancing their resilience and overall well-being. This commitment to providing comprehensive support underscores our belief in the importance of a healthy work-life balance and our dedication to ensuring that every member of our team has the tools and resources they need to thrive in both their personal and professional lives.
Working Minds Mental Health Training
We are proud to highlight our investment in mental health through the Working Minds program, boasting two staff members certified as trainers by the Mental Health Commission of Canada. This initiative is pivotal in shaping a workplace culture that supports mental health awareness and assistance for both employees and managers. By reducing stigma and discrimination, and providing strategies to build a more resilient workplace, Lennox and Addington is at the forefront of fostering a supportive environment that acknowledges and acts upon the importance of mental well-being. Together, these efforts exemplify our comprehensive approach to employee health, illustrating a deep-seated commitment to nurturing a supportive, healthy, and vibrant workplace community.
