The John M. Parrott Centre provides supportive long-term care in a home-like atmosphere, promoting comfort and contentment, while respecting dignity and identity.

Mission Statement

If you or your loved one is seeking a place where the philosophy includes a commitment to the uniqueness of each resident and a warm welcome for family and friends, consider our long-term care facility. The John M. Parrott Centre is a Long-Term Care Home situated in the midst of a picturesque backdrop of nine acres of green space in one of Ontario’s most historic and prettiest small towns, Greater Napanee.

A Peaceful, Picturesque Setting

We invite you to travel down our tree-lined country lane to discover a charming rural residence, which complements the Victorian architecture of the town. As you travel down the lane, you will view a peaceful, open setting. The air is alive with the sounds of the country; birds, soft breezes in the trees, and the neighbouring school children playing. You will see colourful gardens, fountains and inviting paths.

The John M. Parrott Centre is built on a rustic stone foundation with a “Napanee brick” exterior. The stonework is also found in the Home’s many fireplaces. The country gabling adds a rural touch and timbered trellises lead to spectacular gardens.

Our friendly front porch and the cozy fireplace inside the front door will make you feel right at home. Inside The John M. Parrott Centre you will find old house character with state of the art amenities. We invite you to experience the ambiance which brings you home to the traditions of Lennox and Addington. Experience the warmth of the fireplaces, the sweet smell of baking, the laughter of good friends.

The John M. Parrott Centre captures the essence, the warmth and the spirit of our county community. As you walk through the houses and pathways of The John M. Parrott Centre you will see: timbers from county forests; quilts crafted by county residents; antiques and artefacts from hamlets and homesteads throughout the county.

Residential Home Area (RHA)

The John M. Parrott Centre is designed as a country village with a community of six residential home areas. Each is home to 28 residents. The accommodations reflect our welcoming, comfortable atmosphere.

Fine Dining

Dining is special at our home. Each house features a large country kitchen and dining room. Residents begin the day with the enticing aroma of an early morning country breakfast. The spacious kitchens provide plenty of space for residents to share in meal preparation and enjoy the savoury smells of roasts and baking pies. The dining room in each house, decorated with Gibbard furniture made in Napanee, provides a delightful setting for dinners and all special occasions. The warm fireplace and rich fabrics create a cozy environment for our delicious meals. We invite you to spend special, intimate times with family and friends in the separate, formal dining room in each resident home area.

A Sense of Well-Being and Energy

We believe in creating an environment and experiences that can help our residents restore a sense of well-being and energy. We like to pamper our residents. Each ‘house’ in The John M. Parrott Centre has a spa. The spas have deep, luxurious tubs with soft lighting and aromatherapy for a truly relaxing experience.

The Village

When the folks who live in The John M. Parrott Centre leave their houses, they enter the neighbourhood or `The Village`. As they stroll down the `village streets`, residents can visit the Village Salon, the General Store, the Library and the Tea Room.

A very special destination is the Village Chapel. The Chapel, with its beautiful windows, overlooks the gardens and offers a quiet retreat for contemplation; a sanctuary for memorial services; and a setting for spiritual celebrations.

The Tea Room is a favourite setting for an afternoon respite with family and friends. A pot of tea and freshly baked cookies are always conducive to fellowship and conversation.

As you walk through the ``Village``, you will be drawn by the streetlights  to the centrepiece of the village, MacDonald Hall, the gathering place, where you can experience craft fairs, band concerts, church teas and bazaars.

Family and friends can also join residents for lemonade or iced tea on the veranda, the sun porches or in the gazebo. The games room is the perfect place for a game of cribbage, crokinole or cards.

As you stroll through the houses at The John M. Parrott Centre, you will hear the strains of the piano and notice residents gathered by the fire, reading in the library, watching television in the living room or settled in a rocking chair on the veranda. Residents can watch the sunset from the gardens or porches.

Glorious Gardens

Every house has access to a garden. The meandering, colourful gardens have comfortable sitting areas and special mobile planters for those with green thumbs. The home gardens are designed in the style of our county community gardens with orchards, sunflowers, vegetables, garden sheds, and bird feeders.

Restful Retreats

At the end of the day, residents can return to their private bedrooms, each of which is tastefully decorated with soft, warm colours; individual temperature controls: bright fabrics and memory boxes with mementoes of special times and special people. Each room reflects the resident’s personality.

Welcome Home

The John M. Parrott Centre offers comfortable, inviting accommodations in a spectacular rural setting. It is a place to rest, relax, and rejuvenate, a place that will warm your heart and lift your spirit.

We know that you will agree that “There’s No Place like The John M. Parrott Home”. The Village, the Houses and the entire complex reflect the gracious elegance of an earlier time; full enjoyment of the present; and anticipation and optimism for the future.
