Roots 2016

Old Hay Bay Church, 2365 South Shore Road, Adolphustown

 Let's celebrate "Roots 2016" from August 26th - 28th. This event is a reunion for the descendants of the founders of Old Hay Bay Church, built in 1792, or related to the families of the youth who drowned in 1819. A variety of exciting events are taking place during the weekend, including a twilight outdoor movie, tours of the local area, re-enactors of Fife and Drum, food vendors, presentations on aspects of pioneer life, dinners with entertainment, and the Annual Pilgrimage Service on Sunday afternoon featuring Dr. Malcolm Sinclair as guest speaker and musical guests the Salvation Army Band. Summer's End Stargazing Evenings

L&A County Dark Sky Viewing Area, 7980 County Road 41, Erinsville

It's a perfect way to wrap up a long, hot summer! The Lennox & Addington Dark Sky Viewing Area proudly presents "Summer's End Stargazing Evenings" on September 2nd & 3rd from 9:30 - 11pm (weather permitting). Local stargazing enthusiast Joe Gilker from Dark Arts Astrophotography will have his telescope, laser pointer and camera on hand for a fun evening at the DSVA! Admission is free. It's an L&A County tradition! The Centreville Fair returns on September 2nd & 3rd. On Friday night at 4pm the Family Fun Zone opens for the children to enjoy and the popular horse races start at 6:30 pm. The gates open on September 3rd at 8am with a variety of great displays and activities, including a pie eating contest, log sawing contest, Power Wheels Demolition Derby and much more! 10th Annual Limestone Century Bicycle Tour

Various roads, Kingston, Frontenac, Prince Edward & Lennox & Addington County

The 10th Annual Limestone Century Bicycle Tour is 11 September 2016. This one-day classic bicycle tour covers scenic backroads and shoreline north and west of Kingston, including PEC. There are three distances (100 miles, 100 kilometers, or 40 kilometers) to choose; all designed as a fun and personal challenge for cyclists! This is a non-competitive (not a race) cycling event. The Limestone Century Tour is hosted by the Kingston Velo Club (KVC) and a portion of the proceeds goes to Cycle Kingston (www.cyclekingston.ca). Registration includes; route maps and cue sheets, rest stops, SAG, t-shirt, and meal at the end of ride. And, all riders have chance for a draw prize! Denbigh Countryfest returns for another fun weekend from September 16th - 18th! Here's a rundown of what's happening...

Friday
- 6:30 pm: Canteen Opens
- 7 pm: Café and Music at the Hall (licensed bar)
- 7 pm: Air Rifle Target Shooting Competition at Heritage Park
- Dusk: Fireworks

Saturday at Heritage Park
10 am – Canteen Opens
11 am - Logging Games Registration – For Adults and Children 10 to 15.  Games start at 11:30 for Children and 12:30 for Adults.
11 am – $2.00 for all the fun – Games & Crafts. Cub car races at 1 pm

Stone Mills Canoe and Kayak Outdoor Recreation Event

Departs from the Stone Mills Municipal Office, 4504 County Road 4, Centreville

Register now for the inaugural Stone Mills Canoe and Kayak Outdoor Recreation Event to be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016. Kids (8 and older), adults and seniors can register for a day of canoeing or kayaking on a picturesque waterway in and around Stone Mills Township. Registrants will meet that morning at 8am at the Stone Mills Municipal office at 4504 County Rd 4, and will be transported to the waterway location, and return to Centreville at 4pm. Canoes or Kayaks will be supplied, but each registrant will need to bring lunch and drinks for the day. Personal Floatation devices will be supplied but each registrant is required to be a confident swimmer. No previous canoe or kayak experience is necessary. Discover L&A Ride: History | Scenery | Music | Brew

Start/Finish Location: MacKinnon Brothers Brewing Company, 1915 County Road 22, Bath, Ontario

Hop on your bike and enjoy the '2016 Discover L&A Ride', happening in Lennox & Addington County, Ontario on Saturday, September 24, 2016. Beginning at MacKinnon Brothers Brewing Company at 10am, this 58-kilometre journey takes you along paved roads that overlook the water's edge and authentic rural Eastern Ontario landscapes. Rest stops are at fascinating historic sites, beautiful parks, and award-winning wineries & apple orchards for a day of cycling you won't soon forget.

For only $20, participants will ride some of the best roads in the province, receive a fun event souvenir (for the first 200 to register), taste some delicious L&A County wines, and enjoy an ice-cold glass of MacKinnon Brother's brew at the end of the ride! Loyalist Studio Tour

266 Nicholson Point Road, Amherstview

The 5th Loyalist Studio Tour is on October 1st and 2nd from 11am to 4pm. The tour starts at 266 Nicholson Pt. Road, just west of Amherstview, off of Bath Rd. There are eleven artists showing their work at seven locations all within 3 kilometers of each other, on the shores of Lake Ontario. You will meet the artists and be able to talk to them about their work. We only open our doors to the public once a year in conjunction with Culture Days. We are an eclectic group of neighbours who offer, paintings, wood working, glass art, photography, faux art, weaving, home décor and furniture. For more information call Wendy at 613-389-6254.

The Grand Old Enterprise Jamboree returns on October 5th at the Enterprise Hall starting at 1 pm. Guest entertainers will be Jon McLurg and Landon Chatterton.
