Greater Napanee Rides & Strides is a community active transportation committee with the goal of promoting safe and accessible cycling and walking opportunities for all ages. 4th Annual Bruce Burt Memorial Wilton Tractor Parade

If big parades and huge crowds are not your thing or if you are the parents of small kids, bring your family to rural Ontario and the hamlet of Wilton to celebrate Canada and watch our modest slow moving tractor parade beginning at 12:30pm or so, as it travels through the hamlet west on Simmons Road past the playground, Wilton Cheese Factory over the Creek, past the General Store to Wilton Tack where it loops back and ends with tractors parked at the Wilton Playground (rain location: Wilton Hall). Everyone is invited for an old fashioned country potluck picnic lunch. Everyone is asked to bring one food item to share. Free drinks and Canada Day birthday cake is provided by the Wilton Community Association. Silent Auction will feature local products. Tractor judging will take place by people’s choice vote. 2015 Pan Am Games Torch Relay

Odessa, Napanee

The 2015 Pan Am Games Torch Relay is coming through Lennox & Addington County on July 3rd! Join the Loyalist Township Summer Day Camps at the Odessa Fairgrounds from 1:30 - 4 pm to welcome and celebrate the Pan Am flame on its way to the Games (the torch relay event is at 2:55 pm). Music, pony rides, a petting zoo, inflatable obstacle courses, face painting, classic cars, antique tractors and fire truck, free barbeque and other refreshments and much more! Introduction to Rug Hooking - Primitive Style

The Allan Macpherson House invites you to participate in a hands-on, educational workshop. If you have ever wanted to try rug hooking, this is the workshop for you. Loretta will start with the basics and cover the supplies and techniques of primitive rug hooking. Students will then have an opportunity to practice the technique of pulling up loops of wool and see why we're all “hooked” on this fun and creative textile art. No prior rug hooking knowledge or experience required.

A starter kit must be purchased from the teacher on the class date. Sail Mazinaw

Mazinaw Lake, Cloyne

See a variety of boats set sail at the inaugural ‘Sail Mazinaw’. It’s not a race -it’s a flotilla, a cruise, a raid! Sail Mazinaw is an opportunity for cottagers on the Mazinaw to rig and go sailing in company. Bon Echo Provincial Park is on the lake, and park campers will be reminded to bring their dinghies or sailboards along for the weekend. Transient boaters are very welcome to participate as well.  The lake is surrounded by citadels of bare rock that generate thermals and local shore breezes. The orientation and the shape of the lake seldom generate a large swell or white caps. The windiest time of the day is typically at about 2 pm. This summer, the Allan Macpherson House features 'Demo Days' where you're invited to participate in of interactive demonstrations in heritage, culinary and domestic arts.

On July 23rd, learn about reed woven coasters with demonstrator Naneen Tyner.  An interesting fact about the age-old craft of basket making is that, while many other crafts have become mechanized, no one has ever invented a machine that can make baskets. They are still handmade, even in Taiwan. Naneen Tyner has been weaving baskets for the past 22 years and now designs her own patterns. She says basket weaving kind of grows on you. A few basic tools, creativity, and a little patience and you will have a work of art before you.

The Art of Papermaking with Wendy Cain

The Allan Macpherson House invites you to participate in a hands-on, educational workshop. This workshop will introduce participants to the basic methods and equipment of papermaking and a variety of fibres which make very different kinds of papers. The workshop will also touch on the history of papermaking and each participant should be able to make and take home more than two dozen sheets of different papers by the end of the day. Please wear footwear that will be appropriate for wet conditions and bring some kind of waterproof apron or garbage bag to protect clothing.

These albums feature many of Sharlene’s compositions inspired by her explorations in South American, Celtic, Classical and contemporary music and by her close connection with the Canadian landscape. She tours internationally giving concerts, workshops, masterclasses and adjudications, and is Principal Harpist with the Guelph, Kingston and Oakville Symphonies.

Hand Crafted Soap Making with Latimer Soapworks

Under what saponification is and learn to make soap from scratch, using vegetable oils, lye and water . Participants will make an unscented and uncoloured batch and then a batch with essential oils and added colour (if desired). You will learn the chemistry of soap making, the importance of ingredients, and additives, and the basic techniques of this common soap making method.

This summer, the Allan Macpherson House features 'Demo Days' where you're invited to participate in of interactive demonstrations in heritage, culinary and domestic arts.

On August 21st learn about tastes of the past with demonstrator Pat Forster, owner of Season’s Fine Foods. Pat will guide you through a walk and talk of the culinary uses of some of our favourite herbs. This demonstration may consist of a brief walk through the herb garden, and will entice your senses through touch, taste and smell.

MacKinnon Brothers Brewing is celebrating their first year of business with 'Back to the Farm: MacKinnon Brothers Beer & Music Festival' on Sunday, August 23, 2015 from 2 – 10 pm at the brewery. The festival will showcase the brewery and the farm, along with nine great local bands, plus food trucks, vendors, and much more. Many amazing local bands (indie rock, folk, blues, country, and more) will be on stage, headlined by Campfire Liars Club (featuring The Tragically Hip’s Paul Langlois). Local food trucks, MacKinnon's own corn-on-the-cob, a vendor’s area, swimming, wine and cider will be on site. This will be a fun party that the whole family can enjoy! Kids are under 12 are free. The Grand Old Enterprise Jamboree

The Grand Old Enterprise Jamboree returns on October 5th at the Enterprise Hall starting at 1 pm. Guest entertainers will be Jon McLurg and Landon Chatterton.
