Introduction to Needle Felting

Topsy Farms, 14775 Front Rd, Amherst Island

Needle felting uses a barbed needle which causes wool fibres to bind or fuse together. It is easy to learn and fun to do. Students will be introduced to the shapes and methods needed to create many small figures. Supplies provided (foam pad, 2 needles and wool) are theirs to keep. Lennox & Addington County's 150th Anniversary Celebration

97 Thomas Street East, Napanee

The re-opening of the Museum & Archives will coincide with the 150th anniversary celebration of Lennox & Addington County, taking place on Saturday, August 23rd. In addition to tours and an open house of this impressive facility, a great evening of free entertainment is in store for the public outside on the grounds of the L&A County Court House. The evening highlights local musicians and internationally-known performers, headlined by Natalie MacMaster & Donnell Leahy: Masters of the Fiddle. Circus Orange, an act that combines circus arts with special effects, will also be performing. Local well-known acts that will take the stage during the evening include The Kim Pollard Band, David Archibald, Sam And Emma McNichols, and Dallas Daisy. Stone Mills Summer Fest

Stone Mills Community Centre, Tamworth

Head to Tamworth for the first annual Stone Mills Summer Fest! Six community groups are banding together to raise money for the Tamworth Canada Day Committee and the Firefighter's Association.The very popular Jim Patterson Band will be the entertainment at the Stone Mills Community Centre in Тamworth. Tickets are $20 each and are available at various local retail outlets in the community. This is a licensed event and you must be 19 to attend.

Old Hay Bay Church Annual Pilgrimage Service

2365 South Shore Road, Adolphustown

Built in 1792, the Old Hay Bay Church is recognized as a national Canadian Historic site. It is the oldest Methodist building in Canada and the second oldest church in Ontario. A commemorative service is held annually. This year, the guest speaker is Hon. Peter Milliken, P.C., member of Parliament for Kingston-and-the-Islands, 1988-2011. 'The Molly' Charity Golf Tournament

Loyalist Golf & Country Club, Bath

Ladies, swing a club for a great cause on September 4th at Bath Golf & Country Club. The proceeds will support the work of Dawn House Women's Shelter for homeless women and their children in Kingston. The tournament will feature all the usual contests as well as two Hole In One contests for cash prizes of $5,000 and $10,000. The day will include a Women's Showcase, wine tastings, and an awesome Silent Auction and dinner.

The Molly is a fun charity tournament for women, organized by women to benefit women and children in the greater Kingston area. While entertaining and truly non-competitive, it provides a terrific venue for women to support such worthwhile causes. They continue to believe in the benefits of this tournament and return every year, bringing more members of their family as well as friends and colleagues to join in. The sister tournament to the annual Syl Apps Classic, The Molly commemorates the tireless volunteer work of Syl's wife Molly and all women who dedicate endless hours to organizations helping women and children.

Amherst Island Heritage House Tour

Acclaimed by Heritage Canada The National Trust, Amherst Island’s historic houses and Irish stone fences are set in a landscape that has remained unchanged over the past 100 years. Take a tranquil ferry ride to visit old stone houses, restored farms and quaint village cottages, and enjoy a homemade farm lunch at the Lodge on Amherst Island.

The starting point and information centre is minutes from the the Island ferry dock at the Lodge on Amherst Island. The Lodge will be open throughout the day for lunch, refreshments, directions, and a chance to relax and wander the shores of Stella Bay.

Tickets cost $40 and include a lunch of homemade soup, tarts, tea and coffee. A guidebook to featured homes and other points of interest is also included in the price.

This is a fundraiser for the Association to Protect Amherst Island. Round trip tickets for the ferry cost $9 per car, so we suggest that friends come in one car! Bicycle ticket is $1.50  The ferry leaves the mainland every hour on the half hour and from the Island every hour on the hour. For example, to arrive at the Island in time for 10 a.m., take the 9:30 ferry from Millhaven.  We will be waiting for you with a nice cup of tea or coffee.

Amherstview Studio Tour

Various Locations, Loyalist Township

Local artists open their homes once a year to the public.  The studio tour takes place in Harewood Village and Nicholson Point Road. Travel west of Amherstview on Bath Rd. to Edgewood Rd.  The tour has 5 stops and 11 artists and is less than 3 kilometers in length.  You will have the opportunity to talk to the artists and see their work; paintings, wood turning and carving, greeting cards, beeswax candles, garden art, art glass, wall art, jewelry and furniture.
