Have fun at Museum Kids! This free monthly feature at the Lennox & Addington County Museum & Archives brings you child-themed events that are fun for the whole family. Stories of the trees, the harvest, the birds and many autumn traditions are brought to life by Deborah's lilting voice and engaging manner. Be enchanted by legends from our First Nations as well as tales from around the world.

He will help interpret water quality data and effects on your lake. He will give current understanding of blue-green algae blooms and the lake and climate variables that cause them. 1st Annual Author Gala with Terry Fallis - SOLD OUT

The evening features a fantastic presentation by Terry Fallis, one of Canada’s bestselling authors. Fallis has won numerous awards, including CBC Canada Reads, The Stephen Leacock Award for Humour and the Ontario Library Association’s Evergreen Award. 100 Mile Agriculture Event

Napanee Lion's Hall, Napanee

Napanee District Community Foundation is holding its fourth annual '100 Mile' event on October 16th at the Napanee Lion's Hall. The Foundation is happy to announce this year we are highlighting the importance of agriculture in Lennox and Addington. We want to celebrate its rich history and diversity in the County. The evening will highlight L&A's ever changing agricultural community by showcasing local vendors, commodity groups and products. The event will allow time to talk to food producers as well as sample and purchase their products. Hors d'oeurvres and refreshments will be served. Silent and live auctions will give guests the opportunity to bring home some of Lennox and Addington's finest products. 100 Mile Agriculture will also feature Geri Kamenz, Chair of the Farm Products Marketing Commission. Geri will be speaking at 100 Mile Agriculture on 'The Importance of Agriculture to the Local Economy'.

Death by Chocolate for Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre

Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre is celebrating their 20th year serving wild animals from all over south eastern Ontario. Help us celebrate by joining us for one wild night full of mystery and all of the chocolate you can handle! Tickets are $25.00 and include unlimited access to the chocolate buffet, complimentary coffee and tea, and a chance to win one of three gift baskets for participating in the animal mystery. The Fall Fibre Affair returns to the Fairfield-Gutzeit House in Bath. This great annual event features talented local artists in a variety of mediums, including weaving, quilting, art to wear, hand-dyed silk, fibre art, jewellery, woodworking, and much more! "Ontario Decoys" with authors Bernie Gates, Bill Reeves and Jeff Mewburn

L&A County Museum & Archives, 97 Thomas Street East, Napanee

An evening lecture on the history and craftsmanship of Ontario decoys. Bernie Gates, a leading expert on Canadian decoys, will talk on the Nichol family of decoy carvers, who were the basis of the Smiths Falls School and the dominant influence in the Napanee, Brockville, Kingston region. Copies of the book will be available for purchasing or bring your own copy for signing. If you have questions about your decoys, you are welcome to bring yours in for identification and clarification.

TECDC Concert Series: Del Barber & the Profiteers

Tamworth Legion

The TECDC Concert Series brings amazingly talented Canadian artists to the intimite setting of the Tamworth Legion!

Del Barber was nominated for a 2011 Juno Award for Love Songs of the Last Twenty in the category of Roots & Traditional Album of the Year. Later in 2011 he won two Western Canadian Music Awards for Independent Album of the Year and Roots Solo Recording of the Year. As of March 2014, his new album, PRAIRIEOGRAPHY was number one on the Canadian Folk/Roots/Blues charts and his videos were being featured on CMT. Del is one of Canada’s rising stars and organizers are thrilled to have him start off the series.

Have fun at Museum Kids! This free monthly feature at the Lennox & Addington County Museum & Archives brings you child-themed events that are fun for the whole family.  Betsy Cotton returns to the museum with her love of dinosaurs.  Museum collections come in different shapes and sizes, this may include a dino bone or two.  Although there are no dino bones in our collection, they are significant to many museums across the world. With hands on learning, Betsy will keep you intrigued with her love of  dinosaurs and paleontology. Discover her joy of dinosaurs through games and art.

25th Annual Whiskey Tasting & Highland Brunch

From 1826, Allan Macpherson House has been an integral part of Napanee’s history and, since 1968 it has been a living museum of life in Upper Canada operated by the Lennox & Addington Historical Society. For more than twenty years part of that tradition has been our Whiskey Tasting Event. More than just our single largest fund raising event, you will spend the afternoon sampling some of the finest Scotch or Irish whiskeys made today. Served in a (nearly) 200-year-old home your ticket will include a Scottish buffet of smoked salmon, scotch eggs and other traditional delights of the palette.

The War Time Letters of Leslie and Cecil Frost 1915-1919 with guest speaker and author Rae Fleming

The Wartime Letters of Leslie and Cecil Frost is a remarkable document of its times and for our times. Superbly edited by R.B. Fleming and complemented by maps and nearly fifty original photographs from the era, the letters capture a young and close-knit family's patriotic commitment to the Allied cause in the Great War, which gives way slowly to the constant recordings of the deaths of their friends. Join us for a night at the museum as Dr Fleming discusses these extraordinary letters home and captures life in a dugout during World War One. Books will be available for purchasing and signing.

TECDC Concert Series: Corin Raymond

Tamworth Legion

The TECDC Concert Series brings amazingly talented Canadian artists to the intimite setting of the Tamworth Legion!

Corin Raymond & The Sundowners were recently nominated for a 2013 Canadian Folk Music Award for ‘Best Vocal Ensemble’ for Paper Nickels. The band members have numerous Juno nominations (Treasa Levasseur for Best Blues Album for her 2008 release Low Fidelity; Brian Kobayakawa, for Instrumental Album of the Year and Roots and Traditional Group with his band The Creaking Tree String Quartet (twice in both categories); and David Baxter, producer of three Juno-nominated albums by Justin Rutledge, Bob Snider, and Treasa Levasseur. Corin’s show combines a stage full of talent with well crafted songs and a warm, engaging presentation style.

There is a story to the songs we sing. Join Steve for an evening of tradition and tales as he reveals the history and tradition of some our favourite folk songs including some festive favourites too! He well spin a story of where the songs came from, and present them vocally, accompanied on guitar and mandolin.  Many of our traditional story songs have been covered over the years by the such artists as Eric Clapton, Jeff Healey, The Pogues.
